Before the pandemic, urban artists were already wearing a mask. Mainly, they did it to protect themselves from sprays and to maintain certain anonymity, now they try to make the rest of society aware of the importance of wearing it.
If something has brought the coronavirus it has been union and teamwork. This has been reflected in a group of urban artists who have launched their own digital brand of masks. As they say, they have done it to sensitize citizens about the importance of using them.
The initiative is part of the work ‘Coloring The World’ by the artist Okuda San Miguel, and everything was born with the aim of “achieving a better world through art and culture”.
In addition to the participation of Ink and Movement, the artistic team of Okuda, other urban painters such as Nuria Mora, Remed and Spok Brillor have joined. Among many others, they created their own digital mask as an Instagram filter so that their followers could use them in their photographs.
Beyond Digital
The project crossed the screens and was no longer just trying to make citizens aware of the importance of wearing face masks against the coronavirus. He went further and, through their art form, they offered their followers the possibility of contributing their grain of sand in the #CruzRojaResponde campaign.
The promoters of the initiative express that this is “one more way to bring colour to the world at such a complex time for everyone.”
Other Artistic Actions in Times of Coronavirus
In addition to digital masks for Instagram users, Okuda has wanted to contribute to the limited fun that the little ones in the house are having since the pandemic began. Thus, the artist has shared some designs so that children can have fun colouring them. In addition, it is also possible to make a donation to the Red Cross.
The Spanish consulate in New York has also joined the creative cause. Through # 14days14Artists of Young Creation, a program that aims to transform the exploits of confinement into art, urban artist Suso 33 and freestyler BNET made an awareness video.
The intention of all these projects is to be able to reach as many people as possible since it has already been clear that this virus can only be stopped if we work as a team.
